City Council & Officials
The mayor and four city council members, as the elected representatives of the city of Temple, formulate public policy to meet community needs and assure orderly development in the city. The city council is responsible for appointing the city manager, city attorney, finance director, city secretary and various citizen boards and commissions.
In its policy-making role, major activities of the city council are: adopting the annual budget which includes general objectives for the city program activities and service levels; reviewing and adopting all ordinances and resolutions; approving purchases and contracts as prescribed by the City Charter and state law.
